Auguste, 18 years old at the time (2024) was juggling both Sixth Form A-level exam preparations and her business in Cambridgeshire after winning a £1000 grant with BIPC.
Now in 2025, she is going full time with expanding her business through attending cat specific events in the hopes she is able to sell her craft to other cat lovers. Since Auguste was little, she loved creating and crafting. Recently, when we had a hard period in our lives, and she was looking for a friend, Victor, our cat, found us. As Victor was growing, we realised that he scratches our furniture, and this was when Auguste created her first cat’s scratch house. When she finished, we were all amazed by its look and how well it worked for tiny paws, and it also decorated our sitting room at the same time. It was a piece of art which I could not buy online. Auguste solved a problem of cats destroying furniture by making sustainable cat scratch homes from ethically sourced materials. These are handmade using reused materials, boxes, tape, and sisal scratcher rope. Scratch Houses are designed with the functional benefit of saving the furniture from little sharp claws and can be added in any corner of the house to ensure that our pets (in this case cats) do not destroy furniture. It is designed for cats but is pleasing to our eyes as it decorates the home. It is made to fit any and every home and is a luxury and unique gift for cat minded people. |
